100 points of awesome and then came the rain

The Oregon Coast and Portland trip for B's birthday was the sickest, luckiest 3 day weekend! It also happened to be the last days of summer on the calendar and in Seattle, and it was sunny and frickin amazing. We hit Florence, OR and rocked the sand dunes on quads. Stopped by Sea Lion caves but they were out feeding, and popped by a trailhead for what we thought would be a 15 minute hike to the beach that turned into a gorgeous, hour long snake-filled romp through trees on sand to a marsh that was not beach accessible. We did finally make it to the beach as you can see, and it was sweet! Ms. Wiese hooked up with us in Portland where we arrived sans traffic hassles thanks to S's iPhone everything-you-need-to-know wi-fi traffic report. And the Chinese Orchid Garden in Portland is perfect on a sunny day following Powell's. They're so close. Perfect birthday weekends rock. That was September, and we're channeling the sunshine lovin' now that October's rainy days are here.
