Today S&B did a tiptoe through Mount Erie and the tulips. The hike was planned as a kick off spring/summer hike, and we unexpectedly stopped off at Tulip Town outside of LaConner. Mount Erie has sweet views of the waters around Deception Pass, the San Juan Islands, the Olympic Mountains, and Mount Baker. It was gorgeous, 70 degrees, and way sunny even though it's impossible to tell how sunny and beautiful it is in the photos. We were going to go check the Tulips later in the month, but the traffic was so insanely crazy with tulip goers that we decided to join in the mayhem and go to the only tulip farm w/tulips aplenty, Tulip Town. No sane person would go to the tulip farms on a weekend. The traffic on the country roads and coming off and going to the Route 5 was ridiculous. After a decade of missing tulip season in Skagit Valley, and nearly a lifetime for S, we did make it, even if be accident! It was beautiful and wacky, and the kites flying at the farm were amazingly huge, but please save yourself several gallons of gas and visit the tulip farms on a weekday because the weekend traffic was insane. We thought it was a local phenomena to go see the tulips, but there were tourists from as far away as Portland, Canada, Asian and SE Asian there in droves. Woo hoo! Awesome day
